Co-Director
Derrick Raphael
Derrick is a seasoned social entrepreneurship visionary, startup leader, and venture capitalist with a proven track record of driving positive change. He co-founded ICON Talent Partners, which has transformed the lives of many BIPOC professionals and youth since its inception in 2019. Derrick is committed to scaling and supporting more global startups led by women, BIPOC communities, immigrants, and others.

Baliqis Hashiru
Baliqis is a seasoned professional with a passion for environmental conservation and community engagement. With a strong educational background in environmental studies and geographic information systems, she has worked in various fields, including non-profit and private sector organizations such as UNICEF Canada and the Nature Conservancy of Canada. Currently, she applies her expertise as a consulting arborist, while continuing to explore the world and learn from diverse cultures.

Devonnia Miller
Devonnia is a dynamic and versatile individual who has excelled in event management, executive assistance, grassroots activism, small business ownership, and higher education. Her exceptional organisational skills, keen attention to detail, and ability to adapt to new challenges have led to her success in these various fields. Devonnia's unwavering dedication to professional excellence and community engagement is a reflection of her work ethic, passion for social change, and commitment to personal and communal growth.

Veronica Osei-Akoto Brown
Veronica is a multi-faceted problem solver. She is a wife, a mom, an author, an entrepreneur, and a community leader. She is well-experienced in her field of urban planning and passionate about all things related to real estate development. She is highly skilled in connecting people from all walks of life and has a heart for helping all those she encounters to achieve and fulfill their God-given purpose.

Director of Undergraduate Relations
Amina Djirdeh
Amina Djirdeh has a decade of finance experience and is a committed advocate for
diversity and inclusion in the financial sector. She heads Global Mastery Partners,
where she devises innovative DEI strategies to enhance innovation and profitability. As
Senior Financial Advisor at XL Financing & Advisory, she guides ambitious growth
strategies and substantial M&A transactions. Amina is a dedicated mentor who
enhances career success through focused mentorship programs, especially for women.
Her hobbies include working out, reading, and constantly seeking new knowledge,
enriching her personal and professional life.

Director of Mentoring
Olivia Waterman
Olivia Waterman holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from the University of Toronto. She attended the St. George Campus and was a member of Trinity College. Olivia also holds a Master of Arts in Public Administration from the University of Ottawa and currently works in municipal government with a focus on procurement.

Director of Events
Joshua Skeen
Joshua is a recent graduate (2022)of UofT with a dual major in Political Science and Philosophy. He has a passion for politics and public policy, and a drive to foster positive change within communities. Joshua previously served as the Director of Operations for Black Students in Law and Policy, where he led various events, and is now excited to bring his experience to the Black Student Alumni Association. He values the importance of having a dedicated space for fellow Black alumni to connect, share experiences, and support one another, and is eager to contribute to the community by creating memorable events that leave a long-lasting impression.

Maxwell Gyimah
As a recent UofT engineering and Varsity Football alumni, Maxwell is grateful for the experiences and connections made during their time at the university. As an executive member of UTBAA, they are dedicated to helping other alumni and students stay connected to the community. His passion for fostering a sense of belonging and support among members makes them a valuable asset to the UTBAA team.

Director of Marketing
Njeri Fraser
Njeri Fraser is a Chemical Engineering Graduate from the University of Toronto (Class of 2019) and currently works in the pharmaceutical/ biotechnology industry. She has previously worked with the National Society of Black Engineers East Canada Zone as the Pre-College Initiative Chairperson from 2017 to 2019 to mentor black youth and involve them in STEM related activities. When she's not at work, you can find her teaching Zumba classes at the gym. Njeri is looking forward to serve as the Director of Marketing for UTBAA this year .

Director of Communications
Myriam Dilindi
Myriam is the current communications officer for the UTBAA. She graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours BSc in Immunology and Human Biology. Myriam first came to Canada in 2016 to pursue her degree, and currently works in Operations Services at Cadillac Fairview. In her spare time she enjoys learning new languages, and picking up all kinds of different hobbies.

Director of Technology
Alexia Monize
Graduating from UofT St George in 2022, HBSc graduate from the University College Cognitive Science department (focus in Computational Cognition), St. Michael's College HBA Book and Media Studies program, and minoring in Digital Humanities, Alexia blended her passion for both STEM and Social Science fields during her undergraduate studies. In her personal time, Alexia enjoys building Lego models, educating youth on drone flying, robotics, and computer programming.
